Newcastle Photographer's Archive
In November 2021 David from Historic Connections sent me a tin box full of 35 mm negatives from the archive of a Newcastle photographer. David told me that he was an avid photographer and developed his own film. Aside from that, I don't know much about this person. I have a photo of his Praktica outfit, consisting of a Praktica FX camera, an excellent Meyer-Optik Primoplan 1:1.9 58 mm lens and a telephoto lens, Steinheil Culminar 1:4.5 135 mm. This appears to be a popular combination most likely sold as a kit in the early 1950s.
The negatives were sitting in the tin box for more than a year before I digitised them. I was reluctant to publish the photographs out of respect for the privacy of the photographer and his family. Inspite of this, I decided to select several images of noteable pictorial value for publication as they are more than ordinary family snapshots.
